Are We There Yet?

In a nod to Mary-Margaret O'Brien, I have my own version.

"Are we there yet?"

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Can you see me now?

It is very cold here and I'm working overtime to keep warm. By not working at all. Does that make sense? Here I am in the park. Can you see me way back there by the fence? Sniffing under a tree? Yes, there I am.

Sunday, November 30th

The sad news arrived here Sunday evening that Mama DiDi's wonderful Uncle Doc passed away. He was 87 years old. We had just talked to him on Thanksgiving Day and he was recovering from pneumonia. He sounded weak but said he felt better. He suffered from Parkinson's as well as old injuries, and he was growing frustrated that he couldn't carry his regular workload.

The last thing he did was go outside with his wife and put chlorine in their well. He was very proud of accomplishing that chore, which must have been quite a feat, really.

They walked back to the house hand in hand and suddenly his legs folded under him, he said he felt dizzy and he stopped breathing. He died in his wife's arms.

I never met him, but I know what a big part of Mama DiDi's life he was. I know he will be sadly missed by his wife, children, sister and brother. Godspeed, Uncle Doc.

(I just learned his name was Eugene Lyle. His mother called him Lyle and everyone else called him Doc -- if they knew what was good for them.)

One more from Thanksgiving

After dinner I wanted to rest. Auntie Teresa was kind enough to take this picture of Mama DiDi and me.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a wonderful feast. Daddy Moose cooked for two days and Mama DiDi and I went over to Auntie Teresa's house early to help get ready. I didn't get anything to eat. With the wonderful turkey smells, I refused to eat my regular dinner or any treats. No one was allowed to give me any turkey, although cousin Rocco got some, the lucky boy.

Here I am in my fall harness vest (by Pat Adams) at Auntie Teresa's watching for the turkeys to be carried out of the kitchen.
Pat's website is http://www.kindertoydogclothes.com/ Just want to give her a plug.

My Own Perambulator

My dears. What do you see here? Yes, it is Me in my NEW pink Pram, a gift from my wonderful Auntie Sue. I love it. I received this in September and have used it twice so far. Looking forward to wandering our local Park in this. It will be like a Royal Progress.

My Commentary on the Food

That will show them.

More Musings

This very cunning little reversible scarf says, "I do Tricks for Treats." Well, that will be the day, my dear fans, but I do like it. On the back is a pattern of candy corn on black background.

Halloween, or as purists say, Hallowe'en

October Musings in November

My dear fans, I have been doing a lot of sleeping. So to catch us up on my life, I'll tell you a few things about October. First of all, it stinks!

Okay, not actually. But it is not my favorite month. On October 2nd I had surgery and dental work that I already told you about. I felt like Lady Frankenstein, I tell you. Fortunately for me, Mama DiDi was not going to wait 10 full days to have them taken out and she took me in 7 days after surgery. No more CONE!

Now I find I have few more of those little tumors coming along. We are not inclined to have more surgery. So stay tuned.

Neither Wind nor Rain...

I am having my daily walk, no matter the weather. Here I am in a hurry, sorry for the blur. My raincoat has a hood, but it didn't seem that rainy at first. Too bad I didn't wear it. And didn't anyone think I might need little boots?

My Recent Ordeal, continued

Am I not pitiful? My dears, I am happy to say that I am almost well again. No staples, my pretty hair is growing out -- but oh, so slowly -- and I am ready for the rain!

My Recent Ordeal

I suffer from benign tumors, my dears. I had an awful one on my face. You can see where the staples are in this picture. That is my nose on the left. Mama DiDi pinned a nice scarf around my neck. The scarf hides two other removal sites and also makes wearing the Elizabethan collar more comfortable.

If you can see my poor "hip," you might notice more staples.

I must thank my wonderful Dr. Gates and her staff at Cordova Veterinary Clinic for carefully shaving the area so that the rest of my hair hides it now.
And it will grow out as they always say.

Happy Thanksgiving

It's very late but I wish all of my Canadian aunties a very, very
Happy Thanksgiving today.
(Hey! Who is this guy? A member of the Royal Canadian Moose Police?)

Beautiful Lily

So much has happened, my dear fans, that I haven't reported. I promise I will catch up because I don't want you to miss anything.

First of all, I am sad to report that my Auntie Sue in England has lost her beautiful Lily. She and Poppy are still grieving. We are bewildered and distressed that dear Lily should have had to leave her loving family and we pray for some peace for them eventually. The memories stay strong and so does the love.
Lily is wearing a biker chick vest just like mine. I will always think of her when I wear mine.
With love,
Sausha Angel

Whispers from the Bridge

Does anyone remember the Last Will and Testament of Silverdene Emblem O'Neill? No, me either. I had to look it up because something was haunting me. I was hearing things perhaps. I listened (my dear fans, you know what, ahem, large ears I have), and I heard my dear friend Leo whispering from Rainbow Bridge. He woofed with happiness and something like satisfaction with a job well done.

This made me think of "Blemie" O'Neill and how he loved his master and mistress. (Isn't that quaint, my dears: master and mistress.)

"Now I would ask her, for love of me, to have another," he said in his Last Will and Testament. The satisfaction I heard whispered from the Bridge may have concerned a foxy little Norwich dog -- just a dog. My dears, you be the judge. Leo is not replaceable. He had the heart of a lion, did he not? The little Zorro is not yet a fox. But Leo sent him so he could love as Leo did and be loved as Leo was.

That is what I heard anyway.

Precious

Mama DiDi has a dear friend in England whose little dog Precious has gone to Rainbow Bridge.
We have both cried over losing our friend Leo, who wrote us a few times in this blog. Now we are weeping for this little being who was found, named Lilly and rescued as a Chinese Crested! The wonderful care given her by Mo and Nobby somehow turned her into a Yorkshire terrier. If that sounds impossible, it was only the first of many miracles.
My dear fans, click on this link to read all about it. Be sure to read the newspaper clippings and see the photos of this beautiful angel in a dog's body.

Mo and Nobby lived with three Chinese Crested dogs and this is what they thought they were rescuing. As Precious recovered from her past and her hair grew back in, they realized she was actually a Yorkshire terrier. She was very close to one of her Chinese Crested pals in the Clarke household and when Scary died, Precious often paid respects at the grave and this is how I think of her.
We send our condolences, our love and affection from California to Hellesdon to help our friends over this sad time. We want them to know we are in awe of the love they gave Precious that turned her into such a beautiful and loving animal.
With my paws together I send my own Yorkshire kisses and hugs.

Gone Into the Light

"....Gone into the world of light,
And I alone sit lingering here."
--Henry Vaughan, Ascension Hymn

With great sadness we learned last night that our dear Leo died, valiantly protecting his people from a rattlesnake on Independence Day. Independence describes him. He was also fierce and relentless and more brave than I can describe or fathom.

Bombs went off here all around me and I shook and clung to Mama DiDi all night. Leo would not have been proud of me, but I told myself when the noise stops I will put my paws together for those who loved him and will miss him so much.

And so this morning I went out to the park in the sunshine and thought of falling tears and grieving hearts.

And the famous Welshman, who wrote: "Though lovers be lost love shall not, and Death shall have no dominion."

Independence Day!

Happy Fourth of July to one and all.

When the fireworks start, you will find me under the bed.
Happy to report that Daddy Moose was able to put his big flag out in front of the house. He's sick of one-armed paperhanger jokes, but he's still not so swift with his left hand.

Canada Day

Happy Birthday (yesterday) to Canada!

(hitting head with paw for being late)

Here I am wearing my Maple Leaf scarf, nuzzling my little RCMP moosie.

I don't know what I'll do for Independence Day but I'm sure I'll think of something.

Baby Tess

Guess what, my dears!

I have a new 'grand-niece.' Please look at this sweet face and tell me you could refuse her anything.
Her name is Tess and she is the new 'baby girl' of my niece Karin and her husband Justin, living in Rochester, New York. (Hmmm, very close to my dear friends Abbey Mia and Harper Leshnower.)
Tess will no doubt become a first-rate therapy dog in the medical field there.

Playing Catch-Up

My dears, it has been such a trying month. I told you that Daddy Moose had carpal tunnel surgery on May 13th. He healed extremely well for about 10 days and then he was hit with a huge set-back: a staph infection! This is that nasty one we carry with us and it was attracted to the fresh wound.

Daddy Moose had to have more surgery on June 3rd and was in the hospital for six days. Here he is the very day of surgery, no longer in excruciating pain. We thank his orthopedic surgeons Dr. Hu and Dr. Heater, his Physician's Assistant Kelly, his favorite nurse Allen and all the medical staff at Mercy General Hospital for taking such good care of him.
He came home late on Monday, June 8th, and it was wonderful to see him at last. Since then we have been working night and day to help him get well. We have come a long way. His Home Health Nurse Tracy and the others who fill in sometimes, his Occupational Therapist Melinda and his Physical Therapist Jim have done wonders for him.
More later, my dear friends.

The Beaux Arts

My dear fans, please observe my latest adventure in fine art.

This is a tribute to my Daddy Moose -- he was recently operated on for carpal tunnel syndrome -- at his advanced age yet -- and I designed this especially for him.

It is a moose in case you were wondering.

Happy Memorial Day

Blessings on those who fought for our freedom and liberty.
Here I am wearing my new Coca Cola vest from Auntie Donna T in Canada. I love it so much. What could be more American than this on Memorial weekend?
I love my morning walks in the park and wish I could have seen more of my friends today so I could show off my vest.

Vroom! Vroom!

Happy Day! My main woman, Danica Patrick, came in third at the Brickyard today!! Whoohoo!!

I was an excited little dog-lady watching that race today.

I was a little nervous but she rewarded my patience.

She was awesome!

A Very Happy Mother's Day

My dear fans, this is me watching Mama DiDi read her Mother's Day card! I managed to do it again! My YESP (Yorkie ESP) sent my thoughts to Auntie Donna T in Canada and she translated perfectly for me.
Thank you, Auntie Donna for hearing me, writing my words on a beautiful card and mailing it all the way from Guelph.

Mama DiDi wants to tell the story so I guess I will let her:
Imagine my surprise when I opened this beautiful card from Sausha. Thank you Sausha and my dear friend Donna for your clever collaboration.

Here it is:
Yappy Mother's Day (with such a darling picture of a Yorkie) to Mama DeeDee (how did Donna know that's how Sausha usually spells it?)
Mommy I know you love me
By the way you show you care
You hug me and talk to me softly
When I need you, you're always there.
Mommy, I love you always
From my heart I want to say
I'm so glad you're my mommy
Happy Mother's Day!
Love forever, Sausha

Mother's Day Part III

This is my Spring dress. Earlier it was going to be my Easter dress, but Easter was cancelled. Now it's my Mother's Day dress. Last year it was my Summer dress. I love the hat most! My beautiful friends at Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue sent it to me. They are close to my heart because they rescued me.

Mother's Day Part II

I feel pretty. I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty and witty and wise. Of course!
Does this picture make my rear look fat? No, I think it's just a trick of the light.

Mothers and Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone, mothers of babies of skin, fur, scale and feather or all of the above.

I had a spa day last week and I look and feel beautiful. I am ready now to go visiting cousin Rocco.

Happy Easter Day to All

Here I am again, not grinning, but bearing it.
Last year I was mistaken for the Easter Bunny -- I cannot help my ears!
This year I will just be mistaken for a Doofus.

My Great Escape

My lovely people haven't been able to figure out how I get from the bedroom to the backyard without being seen. You would think they were more observant, but lucky for me they aren't.
Woof.

Laughingstock?

My dears,
Occasionally I like to humor Mama DiDi, but this may be going too far. I wonder if I have not been made a Laughingstock.
Please don't laugh. Mary-Margaret O'Brien suggested putting chocolate Easter eggs under my, um --
Next perhaps I'll wear a Panama hat in honor of Palm Sunday.
Or just wait for Easter and wear this thing as a bonnet.
Hahahahahaha.

Erin Go Bragh

Happy St. Patricks's Day to all. It's the feast of Mama DiDi's patron and she is ready to celebrate. Some of us are looking forward to a quiet day.
Mama DiDi and Daddy Moose will be having corned beef and cabbage at the VFW. I shall sleep.

Am I not fetching in my shamrock vest, made (of course) by the talented Mrs. Yvonne? Note the pretty ruffle, making me feel so girly!
Can you see the lovely piece of jewelry given to me by my one of my most favorite cousins, Shadow Dancer? He sent it to me for Christmas among about a thousand candy bars for Daddy Moose.

The Yorkie Diaries

I've been reading The Yorkie Diaries, compiled by Melissa Sovey. One of the entries deserves comment. Here it is, as posted by Nitro: "I sure wish my blog would catch on. I'm exhausted! I never expected this would be such hard work. I may have to take some time away from this for awhile. In the meantime, I'll be checking back every five minutes for any comments."

Dear Nitro, You didn't give me a link so I have to use MY blog to give you some advice. Don't obsess over it. If you get tired, quit for awhile. Don't waste time checking back. And whatever you do, don't think of it as "hard work." Nitro, my dear boy, hard work is rearranging your bedding. Hard work is upending your water dish if the water isn't fresh. Hard work is chasing kitties out of the backyard. Contemplate that, dear Nitro, and then you'll realize blogging isn't hard work.

My dear fans, try to find this book and read it. It's better than "Cats."

Happy Valentine's Day or whatever

My dear fans,

It's Friday the 13th and very cold outside. I want to lounge on my nice bed and may not get up until Sunday, except to take a little nourishment. (Woof) So, in case I miss the big Cupid day, here I am....

Almost February

I, Sausha, have been hibernating this month. It's the time for some sleeping, some eating, a little playing, a brisk walk in the park, beaucoup sniffing, fence-patrolling and GAAAKKKK -- yesterday was grooming. Ah, but my spa mistress Chris is so nice and when she's through with me, I am beautiful again.
Ho Hum, wake me next month.

A look back at Christmas 2008

This video montage includes some previously seen videos of me, my dears, but so much more. This is what results when Mama DiDi is crying over a One True Media video. She got all sappy on me and made this but included my some of my aunties, uncles, and cousins. Oh, and Rocco.

Rainbow Bridge

My dear fans, Mama DiDi was crying this morning and I had to hold her (in my own fashion). She saw this tribute to Rainbow Bridge babies -- our Sparky and Bruno are there, you know.

This is a picture of Bruno. I have to admit he was kind of a cute little guy.

Holidays: Good, Bad and Ugly

Happy New Year to all my dear fans.

I love a new year with its new beginnings and fresh perspective. All the bad of last year is a distant memory (like my surgery, ahem). Let me assure you, Sausha Angel did not have anything invested in the stock market or real estate so she did not suffer from the BIGGEST DEPRESSION SINCE 1931, for heaven's sakes.

I was good on Christmas Eve. I wore my white sweater (from Catherine, UK) to my auntie Teresa's house and I changed to my beautiful dark green dress by Miss Diane DeeWaard of Yorkie Fantasy. As usual, I was beautiful too.
On Christmas Day, I wore my red tutu sweater (made by Auntie Yvonne, sewgramy) to Auntie Teresa's house and changed into my heavenly white dress made by Miss Dottie of Katie's Pet Closet, my snow angel dress.

Before I retire for my little midmorning nap, let me wish you all a most happy New Year -- may it be prosperous and healthy for you all.
